Me and Nicky set off for Cardiff to see the WRC Wales. The journey was really nice until we began to slow down and eventually stop. After a few minutes we got out to see this:
We were so close to the front aswell, just a couple of minutes sooner and we wouldn't have been caught up in it. It caused tens of miles of traffic jams for a few hours!!! They closed the other side of the motorway also if you didn't notice.
Me and Nicky got to the campsite and set the tent up in the best spot possible... maybe not the flattest position of all, but deffinatley the best scenic and romantic place of the whole site!!!
The campsite was called Lavanrock Point... and on that picture you can see of the tent and car was on the edge of a cliff... this is the scenery below.
Just for ChrisCumbria i got a landscape shot
Oh and how could I forget this
Getting onto the Rally. We went with Chris Sussex and his partner Mc to the Millenium statium to watch the special stage. I appoligise for the fuzzy pictures but we were sat quite a distance away and with all the colours and objects my camera just wouldn't lock onto the cars very well.
This is where Paul Swift rolled the car over!!! The crunch wasn't very nice
A wrc car kindly trashed the finish line
Now this really was weird... a flying car... and no there wasn't any ropes!!!
It was radio controlled and feld in the air but little fans, it must have been seriously light!!!
Finally, we cant forget the Ford Stand
The weekend was totally brilliant, really enjoyed myself, i hope Nicky, Chris and MC did also!!!
hey scotty, nice pics ! i will get mine up *the pics that is! soon!
we had a great time. i will say tho, that sketch in the sand... i think you're overexaggerating has come into its own there lol. still i guess we all dream about being HUNG LIKE A HORSE (excpet for me!) lol
Cool pics Scotty, the light in yours was much better than in any of mine!
Quite randomly, I can almost see myself in one of your pics (the flying car one). The block we were in was 410 which you can make out at the top of the stairs, there's a bloke standing on the stairs with a white top and blue jeans on and he's basically obscuring where we were sat (on the aisle, about 3 rows down). I did have a white top and blue jeans on myself but I'm sure the bloke isn't me...
Did you get caught up with that fuel protest then? I passed it going the other way on the M4 and was glad I didn't caught in it. Stupid Welsh tossers, do they really think that causing a few traffic jams along the motorway is really going to force the Government into lowering the duty on fuel? How naive is that? I see the woman leading the protest had a diesel VW Polo too. What's she got to moan about, that car probably does about 70mpg! Sorry, little rant over.
Very good collection of photos there Scott, the campsite view looks fantastic (bit better than folly farm lol)! That tent looks a bit familiar though, what happened to the 'palace'?
Thanks for the pics, just makes me wish I could have gone even more
Aww look at our Tent it looks so cute just sitting there on the hill! We did pick a good site this time, It felt like luxury to have hot water that actually lasted We didnt even attempt the BBQ this time..We used a selection of Old Orleans,Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut and the Cavery instead..much much better
Great Pictures Babe .. my oh my who did that rather rude drawing in the sand hmmm
It was amazing to see all the cars..would love to do it all over again!!!
Quote: Parksey, i can see you in that flying car pic!!!!
Really? I've tried zooming in on it in Photoshop but it gets too pixelated and I can't really make much out myself. I was definitely sat on the aisle though, basically behind where that bloke is stood up (unless that bloke was me...)
You're right too, the Millenium Stadium wasn't that full either. They'd deliberately not booked out any of the lowest tier of seating (I guess for safety reasons) so it was only the middle and upper tiers that had people in. I'd say the middle tier was largely full throughout most of the event though but the stadium was nowhere near at its capacity, unlike when I saw Saints play Arsenal in the FA Cup final there a few seasons back. The atmosphere then was superb.
What stages did everyone go to at the rally? We did Rheola 1 & 2 and Halfway 1 & 2. Usually do more but we usually have my dad directing us but he was on holiday and he's the only one who knows all the spots to sneak into the stages!!
we only did the stadium stage and margam park 1, which was then cancelled of course.. was 1st time to the rally at wales, so wasnt sure what to do. next year am gonna do a few more tho
I've been going since i was 6, it used to be loads better. if you are going next year dont pay into the stages i can tell you how to get into most of the stages without paying!!
they used to do these rally packs in like 1997 - 1998 and it gave you maps of all the stages so it showed the actual forrest track on an OS map so we have all of them and we just park somewhere on a road near by and walk in through the woods. it's £20 per person into each stage and there is 5 of us, we usually do about 9 stages so we save nealy a grand all in all, there's no point in explaining how to get to any stages though until they issue the rally route so i know what stages they are running because they change it every year.
