Hi all,

has anyone had their handles on the front seats break.

about 2 months ago the passenger seat broke, just out of warranty 15 months. Days wanted £112 parts and labor. I managed to get it done for parts only £12.00 yes that £100 labor through ford customer services.

Now the drivers seat handle has broken no such luck today though they want their pound of flesh (£112)

If I buy the part my self does it come with instructions?

Also the engine management light has come on in total 5 times in the last 18mnths. When days put it on the CPU no faults are stored. I confirmed with days that when it is out of warranty it will cost £150 for the just to carry out engine diagnostics????????????????????

Loads of people have the handles break and people have done them theirselves

Have you had to repair you seats? I have not a clue where to start

No I haven't
I think you have to break the handle out but someone else should be able to help you

Clean your throttle body mate!
I did that after 6 months of the engine light going on and off and it drove me mad till I cleaned it so try it!

Has anyone got instruction for either job, fixing the seat or cleaning the throttle body?

Cleaning the throttle body is easy if you have a K&N but if yours is standard it will be harder because you have to move some more plastic crap out of the way.

help me save £112 and future engine diagnostics

if its just the handles all you need to do is break them off and replace with new, if the cable is broken or damaged you will also need handles aswell.
1) break off handle
2)remove seat base ( 2 10mm bolts under base and slide off
3) unclip original cable ends from base
4) unclip seatback trim along bottom or seat at the back (slightly tricky)
5)twist the seat cable at top where you will have broken the handle off 90 degrees and poke cable through into seat
6) pull cables out by pulling out from under cover (note sharp seat frame inside)

you should know have the cable removed, to install reverse the process

but at the last step in reverse you would be braking the handle again, then needin to go through this in a never ending loop

As far as I am aware it is only the handle that is split???

When you say emove the handle do you mean the whole unit so that there is a hole in the set side?

I believe that the handle unit complete and cable come as a set?

yes that is correct break the whole lot off as that come as one peice, not sure if they come as a set pretty sure they come seperate

just been 2 gk ford mansfield the seat handle comes as 1 peace the price is $1649

is that 16.49? or over a grand and a 1/2
