im asking this again because no one gave a ansa last time, when im driving in a straight line the steering wheel is off square, its leaning to the right and when i try to staighten up it sends the car to the left, i,ve had tracking checked and everything is ok, they even put steering wheel clamp on with car running so power steering was working and got steering wheel straight and it was still showing tracking ok. What can be the problem

Thats normal mate, mine does that. All Fiesta's have a slight lean not a clue as to why though. I heard some story that it's something to do with safety.

It sounds like the device used to straighten the steering wheel didnt do it properly.

An explanation from a friend of mine:

Quote:

The wheel not being straight is the steering wheel not being straight when they're making the necessary adjustments. They usually use a sprung device which they jam into the seat to hold the steering wheel straight when they adjust the alignment but it never holds the steering wheel straight. A lot of car manufacturers use a WAHA (wheel and headlight alignment) system which has a device which clamps onto the steering wheel which has an in-built spirit level and then locks itself in place by firing a piston onto the windscreen to hold it solid, then the necessary adjustments are made, unfortunately because all steering wheels are different garages are stuck with the sprung device thing which to be honest is rubbish, it’s very rare that you'll get the steering wheel dead centre as it was when you first had the car.

Needs a wheel alignment done by someone who knows what they are doing and actually gives a damn about the quality of their work.

Simple as that.

Unfortunately, good mechanics seem to be hard to come by... especially in Essex anyway
