Have you got a multimeter? If so try connecting up red to positive and black to negative and check the voltage (DC) of your battery. Make sure you turn the meter to DC. Shoule be around the high 12 to low 13volts.

Check the leads and make sure no mositure is still around the terminals. Could be that theres a film of antifreeze preventing a nice connection.

Just an idea.

Sounds like a problem with the alternator to me. As it's going back in on Tuesday best get the experts (for want of a better word) to fix it, after all that's what the warranty is for.

Check that the battery terminals are tight, if you can move them by hand they are not tight enough. It,s a double problem won,t start and won,t charge properly. Are you waiting for the lights to go out before starting. When you say it won,t start ,what does it do?

ChrisJ, my Puma does that intermittently, you start it, it seems like the engine has flooded, then (flooded engine start on Puma is to floor the accelerator for some reason - that seems the wrong thing, but it works) and then it runs sh*t rough for about 20 secs, then sorts itself. I find just hold revs at about 3 for a few secs and it sorts it self out. Its been checked and nothing is 'apparantly wrong' tho.. oh well, im giving it back on thursday!

If you have had it less than 28 days .....back it!!

Ford will only consider giving you a new one if you have a repair they can not fix after 3 attempts with the assistance of ford technical, or if its been off the road for 21 days, or some other reason i can't remember.
