Hi,

I wondered if you could help me. I currently have a mini cooper s works (classic) and i think in about a years time i will need to sell it and get something more reliable due to my work.

I like the look of the ST (a lot!) and there is a lot of inormation on this. However there doesnt seam to be any info the 0-60 for the 100bhp petrol Zetec-S.

Im only 22 (will 23 when buy the car) so was interested to see whether the Zetec - S would be better for me - thing is i like fast cars!

So does anyone know more on this model?

Hello!

The Zetec S will have identical performance to the current Fiesta 1.6. It will handle and look better though.

1.6i Duratec 16V (100 PS)
Urban MPG: 31.0
Extra Urban MPG: 54.3
Combined MPG: 42.8
Max Speed: 114 mph
0-62 mph: 10.6 secs

Thanks for the info.

A bit too slow for me I think. Will have to go for the ST then! Those first pics look really nice!

DO you know much about the engine charachterisitics of the ST's 150 bhp. THing is my mini does about 0-60 in about 9 seconds but only come alive around 3500rpm so needs to be reved.

Do you know whether the ST will be more torquey low down?

Cheers

The ST has 141 lb/ft of torque - that is a LOT by anyones standards. The engine is modern and generally regarded to be pretty decent.

It apparently pulls quite strongly in the Mondeo and that is a very heavy car. So expect a good spread of torque, a car that likes revs but doesn't need them and hopefully a decent engine note.

You also have the option of the Zetec-S TDCi:

1.6 TDCI 90bhp 200lb/ft this would be a much better option as for around £300-400 you could chip it and have it running much better than the petrol version.

I know if I was going for the ZS it would be the TDCI.

Its apparently available in Dec 2004... just think of the high rev range torque!

No think i am too taken by the ST now. ALthough i guess the proof will be in the pudding as they say!!

I was looking at the 172/180/182 clio's but i dont think the interior or exterior look half as nice as the ST's look. Plus I always like the Ford brand - always think of them as well made and cheap to repair. I had a good old 1.1 fiesta as my first car and it just never stopped going!
