Has anyone had a problem playing copied CD-R in their standard ST stereo?

Mine chewed up a disc and stopped working the first week i had the car. Ford then tried fobbing me off by saying that its not covered under my warrenty because the stereo laser will not accept them.

I told the service manager that i've worked in car audio installation for 2 years and have only come across 1 car CD player that won't play CD-R. It took me three visits to the dealer before they fixed it, eventually by installing a new stereo and then another couple of weeks to return my discs. Then they scratched up the centre console by the fag lighter. Went to get it replaced after moaning and they ordered up a standard fiesta part, not an ST one.

I'm now waiting for a ST console, so god knows how long thats gonna take and for them to sort out a strange loud clicking when i pull away in 1st or 2nd gear. Anyone know what that might be?

Dees R a bunch of monkeys

Of course he means from a legal download site don't you!

There are quite a few threads talking about the 6006 not playing discs, have a search and you'll find loads of gripes with that piece of junk, my advice, put an aftermarket one in and sell it on ebay, they sell really well!

Although you shouldn't have any problems with copied discs, the manual does actually say "Due to technical incompatibility, recordable(CD-R) and rewritable(CD-RW) discs may not function in Ford CD players".

I know some people have had problems with getting it replaced under warranty, if the unit has packed in after using copied CDs.

Cool, at least im not the only one. I have been tempted to putting in a different CD-R brand but dont wanna go through all that crap again with Ford if it goes tits up.

I think i'll opt for the 7" DVD screen once i get the money.

Manual says "recordable(CD-R) and rewritable(CD-RW) discs may not function". It doesn't say that it will f*** it up completely. Refusal to replace/repair the unit under warranty is illegal. Don't let them fob you off.

Replacement fascia unit? I never bought a replacement fascia unit and i still have an alpine

Just cut the stuts and then get the double din adapter, which they must sell surely (or get someone in the uk to post it to you) and then your done...

My install, and you can only see its been cut if you really really look closely!

You can try ordering the whole dash facia from Autoleads website or even try ordering from the halfords website. Not sure if they deliver worldwide but have a look.
