Hello all,

I have been a bit of a lurker on these boards for a while now, I got my ST from near new (3500 on the clock) and had it for just under two years. I bought the car on finance and have 3 years and 4 months to go on it and I intend to own the car for the finance period.

I recently noticed I was on emergency tax code for my job and am about to receive 3.5k in tax rebate.

I basically have about 2.5k to spend on my ST which is a 57 plate on 60000 miles

I have a number of questions which I would like some input on from you guys, I was looking at 3 options generally based on how close they are and a few other factors, (I move from Manchester to Derby to Berkshire to Guildford all the time, so north, mid and south all doable)

1: Mountune 185 vs Pumaspeed 190 vs buying bits and remap from JamSport. From what I gather Mountune have the power guarantee and are good, Puma have the fastest option and are generally good, JamSport I know little about, any advice?

2: Is my car too old to have this done (60000 miles)

3: Anyone with the Pumaspeed 190 verify its output (RR)

Any help would be appreciated... leaning toward Puma/Mountune atm for ease as they have performance packages listed on site.

Get Mountuned to 185 then that way you can stop the tuning bug and enjoy it!

I think the problem with the Pumaspeed kit is that sometimes it reaches what it says at 190hp but not always. It seems to vary depending on your engine. As for the mountune kit, it comes with a 12month warranty, its regonised by some insurance companies and is designed to get the best power out of your ST engine without any problems. I have not heard one complaint on any ST forum about it so i would recommend it myself personally as its a great piece of kit.

As for jamsport, they are a fantastic company with a good reputation, you know if you buy anything from them it will be of good quality!

easy one this, Mountune for cast iron performance or if you wish a little more power then get Jamsport to put a kit together and custom map/SC.
I need day to day reliabilty so JS is too far away from me to keep going back with any niggles that may arise.

Looking like it will be the Mountune when the money comes through, will probably get it done in Essex. My only concern is my car has done too many miles and wouldnt need the extra stress of the kit.

makes no difference. In fact with the extra torque there is less need to rev the car and it will be breathing better so again good for the engine, if your a little worried then get the 165 kit whereas the 185 does require the revs to be up most of the time.

think i'll have to e-mail them and ask . I'd be happy with around 200bhp from a stage 1 kit. Can they tell you the 0-60 figures before you get it fitted or do you have to wait till they've put one on your car?

Think i'm going to go for the Mountune 185 and just get the Ford approved Eibachs for a slight drop. The quicker 0-100 appeals to me much more than the quicker 0-60 too so i'll skip the 165 and go straight for the 185.

Cheers guys,

Andy, how many people have you reccomended supercharging too.. lol. Cars looking good btw, never see you driving around Newbury though.
