Evening all, was just wondering if anyone has recently had their car valued at a dealer? As like part of a trade-in deal.

Either at Ford or an independent garage, not too fussed either way.

Wont be able to get to town until the weekend when i want to get my car valued so was just after some rough estimates - mainly so im not too dissapointed when they tell me how little they think my car is worth ( at least compared to how much I think its worth! ).

Mines on 06 plate ST with just over 30k on the clock - Good Condition, Leather Seats etc - just for info.

Thanks

Adam

According to parkers you should be expecting about £4600 for a part exchange, and without looking I'd have a guess at about right for a part exchange

Thats sad, you would probably get around 6k if you sold private

If you can always try and sell private first, they will only give you whats in the glass's trade guide and if they give you a bit more the extra will be on the car you buy from them anyway, car dealers are in bussiness to make money, so are not going to offer you top wack for your car.

Thats pretty close to what i was expecting to be honest as i had roughly 5k in my head.

Part-Ex deals are usually more convenient - unless you know someone who wants to buy your car off you and who can wait until you find a new one to replace it.

But i mean how often does it all work out like that!!

Knowing my luck id find a private buyer for my ST and then not be able to find a replacement car for a couple of months after. And thats not a situation i want to be in as i need the car to get to work.

I recon my new car which ill be getting March time next year will cost my about 9k ( 08/09 plate Passat Tdi ) so 4/5k towards that might be the best option for me at the time.

Thanks for the replies

Adam

A Passat

I personally voted this in my list of cars that i have driven the worst so far. What would make you go from an to a Passat?

Lol - well i went from an MR2 Turbo to an Impreza Turbo to the ST - so i must be a bit soft in the head after all!

Im just finding the ST a bit unimpressive really - i tend to get fed up with cars quickly so change them after a year or two.

Also its partly down to my parents getting a much smaller car than they are used to - so ive decided to get a much bigger car instead and the Passat Tdi ( the 140bhp one with 240lbs of torque ) ticks all the boxes.

It gets us on holidays when we need to, is easy for runs to the tip and its a big motorway cruiser i can relax in.

My grandad drives a Passat... But hey, the is not for everyone I suppose. I would consider putting your on Auto Trader if I were you. I found my dealer on that website. I did consider buying from a private trader, however there were things that they had falsely advertised, such as full service history history and the general condition of the car. Just be honest and put up a few decent photos. You never know...
