So is the standard size 70mm?

How does reducing the size of the throttle body help?

(This is a genuine question not me trying to have a dig lol)

£2,800 fitted maybe?
They are worth a drool
Much more useable power over a charger. Together with a large bore exhaust and engine internals you could see 250bhp/270bhp easy. Pete at Jam-Sport had 297bhp with a 2.3Litre block & ITB's

cool are you fitting them yourself? is the 2.3 engine a much better engine for the st to have or is it just another avenue for mods?

I could of gone for a 2.3 ages ago but I thought why change the car so much? I'd rather push all the power from my 2.0 Nothing wrong with a 2litre!
It came with the car and it makes the car an ffs

It controls the amount of air that enters the engine. The ECU will open or close the flap depending on how much you press down the accelerator and also based on other information it recieves from other sensors. Because this is 5mm bigger, it should allow more air into the engine, however the ECU may adjust this by making the air gap smaller.

However, unfortunately the ST engine is already over throttled (as are most Ford gas engines these days) - therefore you will not get any more air into the engine. You will just reach the maximum air flow value with less pedal travel than before. The ECU will not know you have fitted a bigger throttle so depending on how the software works one of two things will happen:

1) The throttle will move with the pedal in the same way it did with the old smaller one, the MAF sensor will see the increased air flow for a given pedal position and increase the fueling appropriately until the full load torque limit is reached for that operating condition and at that point the throttle will open no more - regardless of pedal position. The effect of this is that your car may feel more 'responsive' but this is only because you have to move the pedal less to get the same performance. Maximum torque will not change.

2) The software's pedal map (which equates a pedal position to a torque demand or fuel quantity) will just move the new bigger throttle body to a smaller opening than it did with the old one to get the same torque requested by the pedal as before. Again it will only continue opening it until the full load limit is reached. The effect of this is that it will not feel any different!

This is also how the engine limits it's output in 1st and 2nd gears - it just shuts the throttle a bit.

I have been told by someone running an ST engine on a dyno that fitting the bigger throttle body makes no difference to peak power - the manifold is a bigger restriction.

i fitted mine today worked great, seemed louder induction noise, n a little more throttle response as in it seems to rev higher with less throttle put on.

i also fitted my decat today and all i can say is its sounds soo good and pops and bangs so much!!!

but my mil light is still off...
