ok its not even 5 months old yet and ive found three lots of rust on it!!!

i have got literally a milimetre stone chip on the drivers door and its rusted?!?! please tell me this isnt common, ive had 10 year olds cars with millions of stone chips and no rust, is fiesta paint REALLY that thin???

The other ones i think are a design fault, you know the rain runs round the inside of the door and piddles out the bottom when you open it? well the metal between the trim and the window has started to rust in 2 places!

Anyone else noticed anything similar? surely this isnt right?

And PS some of you might remember that i have a wonky drivers stripe? well now stripes are on back order so ill be waiting god knows how long for that to be done

Lou (fiestakingfisher) had the rust inbetween the rubber seals and the door. Right under where the holes in the rubber were I do believe. Its a bit insane to think that would happen on a new car though. I cant say I've heard of another ST rusting the way you've described and I cannot think the paint is that thin either. I'm really sorry to hear about your problems Jody

Im sorry to hear about your car rusting but if there is any defect in the pain, stone chips included there is a high risk that rust will start to creep in!!!

The best thing to do is give your car a good clean... get the T-cut out... and give all the rust parts a really good going over... get a wax stick and fill the holes... then go over the wax with a polish...

This way you will stop the rust... seal it with wax and then seat it again for a limited time with polish!!! In ths short term this is the best idea!!!

I'm really sorry to hear that you're having rust problems already.

I've just checked that place on my doors, and its fine. But it is something that has always been a little worry at the back of my mind that the water collecting there might cause problems.

Like FiestaRS says, you should treat it so that at least then you will stop the rust from spreading.

Surely it would be worth getting on to about the rust coz all new cars come with the anti corrosion warranties so id its a design fault they should repair it.

ta for the advice, the rust on the door we have sorted but im seriously unhappy about the rust inside the door. On the drivers door by the wing mirror its quite bad, im very wary that this might affect a future sale!!

ill email ford uk and let ya know what they say

Its definately worth a go as a car that old shouldnt even have a hint of rust.

I also found some rust on both doors this weekend. I'm also a bit worried because it looks like the rust is comming from the inside of the doors. It seems to be a real problem for Ford, not only Fiestas have several rust spots but also new Mondeos have several.

Modern paint is really thin. But even so it should offer more rust protection than what you seem to be describing! Get onto ford about it! I always make sure that my car gets a nice waxing to protect the paint, its a pain in the ass when ur washing it, but i think the extra time pays off! *sparkle sparkle*

You must be joking!? rust on a 5 month old car! All fords come with at least a 3 year anti-corrosion warrenty or so the sales guy told me, so I would take it down to ford and say wtf is that doing on my car!!!

The water build up at the bottom of the doors is because there is aonly 1 drain hole and the rear end of the door. If the car is parked facing down hill it builds up.

Stone chips are not included in the anti-corrosion warranty. Its only covers if its rust from the inside out.

my car doesnt face downhill, but the water just sits in the doorframe, this would count as inside rust, as said, stonechip is sorted but the rust in the door is not on!

Best bet is to take it to a ford dealer with a bodyshop to be inspected and keep on at Ford customer services.
