I think it's a case of everything must be approved by Ford.
Getting approved parts is fairly easy (ie Eibach Springs), however the grey area is the labour/workmanship. Ford will always argue that if the work isn't done by them (or a Ford approved mechanic) then the substandard workmanship will void the warranty. As incorrect fitting could result in parts failure.
That's my understanding of it anyway.

Another way of looking at it...

The springs would come with a years warranty... so if there was any problem you would atleast be covered for a year anyway.

It does seem quite a grey area though

right then guys and girls really need some help there went to ford today to get a quote for lowering my ST £181.87 to fit them but they say they dont make the parts for the ST if you look in the accessory booklet it states that its not compatible with the ST?????
then i said to him about the warranty if you dont get it done at ford then you lose all warranty, but he wasnt sure if you could get modification done at an outside ford approved garage and keep the warranty, he said that it couold be different to the servicing side

I'm sure someone said the Eibach springs HAVE been approved by ford for use on the (aren't they the same springs as used for the 1.6 Tdci), maybe they are different to the ones in the accessories brochure.

As for fitting, who knows. I would get Ford to do it for the peace of mind.

All I can think is that they are not compatible with the NEW Fiesta . I seem to recall that someone said that the suspension has been changed slightly on the for the facelift.

I thought it was to do with the weight of the 2L engine, isnt that why the normal fiesta lowering springs aren't ST compatable?

Yeah, I think thats why the 1.6 Tdci springs need to be used.

Thats what they told me at the Frankfurt Show when they were going through all the facelifts's changes. I'm sure Ford will make compatible springs available for it eventually. Then again, look how long it took them just to update the site.......
