Sounds to me as it's wired to a permanent live, it needs to be wired to an Aux live.

^^ what he said. Otherwise if you dont want to change wiring you can always add a switch but careful where to put that in your circuit as you dont want to cut out power to whatever the live wire is going to. If you're not sure talk to someone who knows some electronics

Basically L=Live wire , S= wire going to sub

WRONG:

-----SWITCH--------L
\
\
\S

Correct:

--------L
\
\
SWITCH
\
\S

I would check this....
If your thinking of putting a switch in put it on the remote wire

seeing as most, if not all amps need a remote wire to function, it sounds as though you have it on a permanent live which will give you a dead battery!

As suggested, put it on a switched live, such as cigarette lighter power, if you're struggling, a switch would be simple to install, though you risk forgetting to turn it off!

the stereo should have a remote cable coming out that you connect the switch wire to then it will only turn on with the stereo

in reality this can have various options. putting a switch to your connection if you're using a wire which is always live, connecting to accessories live wire or connecting to live on ignition wire.

live on ignition wires include most optional electronics such as the windows for example. accessories live are those like stereo which are switched on when key is in position 1, prior to ignition. your call.

by any chance do the audio cables run along the car next to the live cable from the battery?

thats where your noise is coming from as the audio wire will pick up the fluctuating power going through the power cable you need to run it down opposite sides of the car

Goodyear has got it running with the standard ford unit using the adaptor from halfords, did exact same with me, I even ran the cables on the outside of the car so there where away from other wires with no joy
