Hi all,

I don't think my insurance specifically covers me for a rolling road. Assuming my car is ok when it goes on, are the garage liable if anything goes wrong? I don't think it's particularly high risk, but I wouldn't want to be faced with a huge bill if anything did go wrong!

I could just be being unneccessarily paranoid of course!

Does an insurance company even know what a rolling road is?

basically they warm your car up then put it in 5th and put the accelerator down till near the redline...

nothing bad should happen but if they feel your car isnt running right they most probably wont run it!

i have done 3 now and never even thought about what you have just said!

Not meaning to steal the thread or anything but...

Do the events like Ford Fair and FITP have a rolling road where you can test your car and if there is, how much does it cost? I'm just kinda curious to see what I'm running in my ZS lol

It says it doesn't cover speed and power trials (assume it refers to rolling road etc.)

I need to stop worrying clearly...

My 'fears' have all come from the mechanics tutors at work telling me to make sure I check this, that and the other before I go on. Obviously I'd do the usual checks (tyres, oil etc). I'm clearly overthinking it, will get it booked in

It'll be fine mate as long as the car has the correct fluids. If there were serious risks they wouldn't do it

At the end of the day Lee.

You or the best of mechanics will not be able to predict if your engine may blow up doing a rolling road run.

It's pretty much like doing 125mph down the motorway... your car would be screaming at full blast... it could well go pop... many do.

If you've added any performance parts / remap etc then you've got more chance as the airflow will be different causing fuel mixtures to be increased and dependent on your map may run differently and the worst may happen.

On the flip side.

I drove my all the way to Kefalonia (Greek Island) which was having a heat wave at the end of July, 1st week of August (the hottest point) and was actually 40degrees. I then drove from here all the way back through the Swiss Alps then through Germany and down the Autobahn at full blast. My car didn't miss a beat.

At the end of the day it's your choice... if anything does happen. I'd suggest that you forget you ever went to the RR and the car just happens to have done this down the road from there. Obviously for legal reasons and the fact I’m the site owner... I cannot condone any insurance claims that are not legitimate. So... I clearly would not advise you do anything fraudulent.
