HI all, is it just me or is it difficult to pull away in 1st in a nice smooth fashion, I really battle, car always jerks etc unless I get it just (and I mean JUST) right...? really irritating, and makes it difficult to give other cars a go. Really feels like the clutch is too sensitive or the throttle response is mis timed..'or something' cheers

I have got the nack of it on the flat, but hill starts are sometimes a bit jerky. People behind must think its a woman driving (no offence intended!)

Ford had real problems getting the clutch right when the ST was being developed, regarding getting th car in motion. The key is really to be patient and let the clutch out slowly, whilst giving enough revs, all the time being prepared to engage the clutch in slightly if the revs fall too much. It is possible to pull away in 1st from just over 1000rpm if you have the time to ease the clutch out while constantly dipping it every now and then. Of course, the faster the getaway you want, the more revs you'll need.

Same as jonesy..... mine does it from cold ok when warm. That sort of indicates its something to do with feeling more snatchy with the higher engine revs from cold.

As above, real snatchy a couple of days ago for a few minutes when there was ice on the car and I hadn't used it for a week, perfectly fine this morning.
