Which tyre gives best protecton to the Alloy? I have heard of tyres having a lip on the wall which cushions the alloy from curbing. How true is it/

Yes they have "rim protectors" depends how hard you hit the curb though, can't see it being all that good myself

if you slightly touch a curb when parking you may be lucky with rim protector tires but if u hit them at speed nothing is gonna stop you hitting the alloy!

As adam has said some tyres do have rim protection, but if you hit a curb hard enough it wont protect your alloy.

my astra had them and they are were rather good, but wouldnt suit the st alloy as they stand out quite far. saved me a few times

err, even toyos have the rim proteters, i brushed mine a feww times while i had it and they worked perfect
