Not that hard mate, don't worry

Take of your air filter first...

Then you'll see this... but probably black on the inside as this is a brand new one

Just use carb cleaner or brake cleaner and clean the inside, i've heard some people say you shouldn't be moving the throttle valve (dunno if that's the word) but i did that and didn't experience any problems after.

its a butterfly valve i think and if you take the TB off, you can move it with the lever (shaft arm or whatever it is) but i dont think you should be touching the butterfly.

Also if you remove it you can clean the other side, and wont have to move the butterfly as much

petrol, toothbrush, and some paper towels to clean up are all you need.

(by the way, that wire clip on the throttle is NOT stuck, its just a bastard)

You flick up the red bit with a screwdriver first

Just did mine after reading a few threads on here. Piece of cake! Only took me half an hour and made a huge difference to the idle.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Carb cleaner is better I've found. I cleaned my Vectra Diesel and V6 Vec with that stuff on two truly caked up TB's, and they came up nice. Then finished off with some Autosol or T-Cut.
No harm comes from touching the butterfly.

Now that I've had a bit more time in the car since cleaning the TB, I can't believe the difference. It picks up from stationary at low revs SO much more smoothly than before. I never would have thought the difference would be so noticeable, just from a clean!

After seeing the change after just a clean, I'm now on the hunt for a 60mm TB!

hey all - bit of a noob to the site but here goes. I recently fitted sports cat to milltek full system and 4-1 manifold and it was running mint popping and crackling when letting off but since I had my throttle body off for a clean its stopped popping,,, it seemed to go through some kind of reset after the t/b clean revs everywhere but then settled after a few km's funs fine but no pops any ideas????
