well, its xmas, so my shitbox decides to treat me to its annual monthly fault/breakdown/error.

honestly; my 20 year old 8v xr2i was more reliable... bah humbug.

anyway...

started car, freezing cold, engine managment light on. drives fine. not drinking fuel, no loss in power.

bought a fault code reader, also checked via dash:

dash says: D262 (missing scp) however dash and instruments work fine.

obd2 code reader says: P0072 (ambient air temp; sensor circuit low)

can clear the light, come back on after a few journeys.

any idea what this is? where is this sensor? what is this sensor?

It could be the TMAP sensor, its a pressure transducer and a temperature sensor, normally found on the inlet manifold. The sensor provides information to the PCM relating to inlet manifold vacuum and barometric pressure and the temp of the air in the inlet manifold.

twas the sensor attached to the rad behind the front lower bumper grill. iced up, bit of wd40 and its working fine.
