Hi!

While googling the web for info on the Fiesta ST I came by this forum, wow what a load of information. I found some info on what to look out for on buying a ST, but one thing is not clear to me.

Should I go for a pre-facelift (2005) model or should I look out for a facelift model (2006-2008)? And why?

I noticed the exterior and interior differences, and when I am correct the engine and gearbox are similar. Personally I prefer the pre-facelift taillights and the facelift headlights, but is there anything else? I think cruise control has never been available for the ST, is this correct?

Thank you.

Ow, as I am from the Netherlands there is no need to point me to right hand drive vehicles for sale. Left hand drive vehicles you want to mention are appreciated.

ok heres the rundown

theres not much difference between the two, facelift has different lights, but its down to personal taste as to which you prefer (i say facelift FTW). the engine and gearbox is the same but the facelift has better springs and valves ive heard and the OBC on the facelift is better. the price of the pre facelift will be cheaper as of age but both are great cars and your on the right path to finding one. shame your not over here as there are 2 great ones in the lot ATM

so welcome to the forum and good luck

Hi there and welcome to the site.

As Harper said, the car itself is basically the same, it's only cosmetic stuff and the options being different.

Apart from the lights, other changes that were made on the facelift:

Dials included analogue fuel and temp guages rather than digital ones; an onboard computer which has outside temp, mpg, miles left, average speed and other settings; 1 touch down electric window; gear lever surround and interior door handles are now shiney not matt; vents for side windows were moved onto the dash; sidelights switch on when unlocked (home safe lights); new style cdplayer (prior to late 2007 this was just an updated version of the old one, after that it was a Sony one which doesn't have a CD multiplayer, but does take mp3 cd's); steering wheel airbag reshaped; lane change indicators (1 touch 3 flashes); softer dashboard; leather gear gaitor (from late 2007 onwards only).

There were also these optional extras on the facelift:

Bluetooth hands free phone with voice control system; portable music connection socket(this was standard for 2007 models onwards, optional before then); electric folding mirrors; rain sensor including auto headlights activation; EATC - Electronic Auto Temperature control; second remote key.

Waar in nederland als ik vragen mag?

Facelift headlights are a straight swap into a pre facelift so you get the combo you like, but then you wont have the uprated bits such as springs, valves, trip computer etc

I'm not sure if the pre-facelift taillights are a straight swap for the facelift ones though...

From what people have said, they're easily done, but you require a Lexus lighting loom to change them. This is down to the newer ones having a reversing and foglight on both sides, rather than just on one each on the pre-facelift.

welcome,
you get a free nipple on your headlight with the facelift haha, nah im messing both a brilliant cars and like others have said theres not much difference but imo id go for the newer facelift purely becasue there a newer spec and have got some extras such as an outside temperature gauge.
hope you find the one your looking for and good luck

Thanks for all the info, it seems the facelift is a real upgrade. As I am planning to keep the car original I won't swap ligtunits from pre-facelift to facelift.

Is there a Fiesta ST brochure online somewhere?

No, original. Standard is something completely different With original I intend keep the car as close as possible to how it left the factory, at least at first sight. It doesn't mean that parts cannot be replaced by better alternatives..

First worry is to find a neat ST. After I found one I will decide what I want to change and what not. In the basis I like an original car when looking at it, meaning only ST rims, standard exhaust, no aftermarket spoilers etc. For comfort and performance I might alter some things. I have to admit I am already thinking about a K&N kit (even without owning an ST..) but I think I will drive it as is for a couple of months first.

But I know for sure I will not mod as extreme as some people around here (although I like the results!). I think..
