my insurance is up for renewal im with adrian flux. they sent me a renewal quote which was £1237.97. so got a couple more quotes i got it down to £718 with direct line.
so i phoned adrian flux back and asked if they could beat this price they phoned me back this morning and said they can get it down to £705.
how can they drop the price by £500?? i think this is really bad that they can charge so much then drop it why didnt they send this quote first??

I know, you wouldn't expect Insurance to want to screw money out of people as they are such nice people
They were just trying it on. I guess that some people would get that quote and would be happy and not look anywhere else. Good job you did really!

Because they hope you accept it and pay them lots of money!

It always pays to shop around because some of these companies really do take the what-not

They are just out to make as much cash as possible and if u cant be bothered to check then they are laughing!!!

This is why it is always best to do what you have done!!!

All insurance companies do it, to be fair if I owned an insurance company I'd do it aswell in the hope that most people don't get other quotes. Personally I would go with Direct Line.

It depends also how long you've been with them. It is possible that when you first signed the contract with them you might have still been a young driver with a higher premium but then the premium should automatically go down once you are no longer considered a young driver which of course it does not... I wonder if you had told them you had another quote for 500 if they would have believed you.

I always make up a figure that i reckon my insurance should be dropping to and say that ive found a better deal, then they always go away and talk to their manager and come back and say that they can beat it.

so what did ya decide nicki, direct line or u gonna bother with flux?
make sure u check the EXCESSES on each policy too. one might say they'll do it WinnieThePooh cheap but they u get screwed on the excess. and remember they hide the real excess cost by saying some is compulsory and some is voluntary - so you have to add both figs 2gether x

Hi Chris, no in switzerland actually it's not so bad at all but I've only been here for 5 years. The bad part was the one in France where I spent many years before coming to switzerland. It was terrible there. At the moment I pay about 900 GBP to insure both cars (Fully comp for the and 3rd party for the CLio). I don't think it's that bad. It was about the same when I had the Cosworth instead of the Fiesta.

The secret to cheap insurance is to get old and drive carefully, hahahha well not too careful like.

My fave driving tip for all you racers is 'Keep yeh distance' full stop..

Well any insurance under 1k is very good i think for this car.

This is my first insurance policy on my own as i had a slight bump should i say when i was 17 and therefore been driving under my parents name for three years, now that the claim has expired i can get my own insurance,(well so i thought).

Driving under my parents name enabled me to have some pretty cool cars starting with a 1992 Mazda Eunos Roadster (imported MX5) Very Nice, a BMW Mini Cooper - and now i have just bought the Fiesta ST and finally got my own insurance which after searching the web had the following quotes:

bearing in mind i'm only 20...

foryoungdrivers.com - £4,000 +
Directline - Wouldn't quote
Elephant - £1,400 +
Bell - £1,330
Admiral - £1318.00 (this is a 10yr bonus scheme as well)

I found that Elephant, Bell and Admiral all come under the Admiral Group plc and also found that the quotes can be very close to one another under these three groups, if you play them against each other its often quite surprising on what they can offer..

Yeah, you just need to get some years under your belt and that will easily half the price.
Mine started at about £800 for my old cleo, and now is £370 for my 02 Fiesta TDCI and will then hopefully be around £500 when I get my ST

Well i'm 25 with 5 years no claims and no points, and that was as I said about £500ish, maybe a little more.
Thats with Direct line. I have never been with anyone else, they always seem to go about £40 under any other quote I get.

My renewal was due 30th December, £1490 with 1 years NCB shopped around everywhere!!

Most places wouldnt insure someone under 21 in Hot Hatch, belldirect was my best quote but I stuck with elephant for the extra £10.
