Been having a go at tinting my rear 3 windows with some Film I got off Ebay.
The side ones have turned out pretty good, but the back one was a load of crap.

Although I got a good shape piece of film and it fit well, the creases wouldnt come out. They were on the bottom and I pushed them out and the appeared on the sides. Pushed out on the sides and they were on the top and bottom. Darn annoying....

I think it will look pretty good if I can get the creases out. Any ideas to get them out? Hairdryer as for vinyl?

Tinting is a bitch..............

Cut the film to the shape of the window on the OUTSIDE

Lay the film roughly in place on the INSIDE of the window with loads of soapy water, use a credit card or similar to remove creases & bubbles etc

Hair dryer or heat gun to 'shrink' the film to the glass

Thats how the pro's do it

The side ones look even better this morning than they did when I was done last night.
Definitely makes me want to do the back one myself.

Since I live in a 3rd floor apartment I'm looking for someone with a house where I can park the car close and has a hairdryer and extension. Wish me luck, lol

My mate who is a Tinter says the key to getting it right is the soapy water on the window so you can move the film about without it sticking

Good luck mate

Soapy? I did it with just water. It moved about ok but not like sliding all over the place.

Could you not get one of those inverter packs that plug into the lighter socket over there? Then you can plug any household appliance into it

I watched the guy do my tints last time I went

clean the glass with a squeegee or whatever it is u call it
cut the shape from outside
he used some liquid to stick it to a window he had at the shop and left it there for a little while
he they sprayed the similar stuff all over my window (and door panel )
put in the film and cut the excess
used the credit card-style palette to push out creases
job done ... that's what I reckon

Well I've taken the tints out of the two rear side windows.
After a few hours in the sun this afternoon, one side was covered in tiny tiny bubbles.
I can't be bothered if I'm gonna have to get bubbles out all the time.

I might get them professionally done at some point but if they are gonna be the same after some sun I might not bother...

In any case, if anyone wants 3-4 metres of film at FITP, its theirs for nothing

stevie, it's not the sun. If anything, when done properly the sun dries out the lubricant and does not produce the air pockets.
