As I mentioned in another thread I shall finally have some money soon to redo my audio I currently have this.... http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/12882.html(depressing looking at the latest price) I want.... All new speakers for door panels (think they are 5x7) An amp to do all the door speakers A sub and amp Might possibly get a flat sub and build it into the wheel well Open to the idea of just having a 6channel amp Don't want too bigger sub in a box, would just want plain black So any suggestions?

Got about £500 to spend, don't mind leaving the amp for the speakers for now though and getting that later

JBL Components
JBL are good, I use Infinity myself which are basically higher spec JBL. Nice clean highs to my ears. If you cant place the tweeter seperately (component style) then try to get speakers with directional tweeters so you can raise the soundstage up a bit. I think JBL's also have a +3dB boost button which can be handy.
You do need to go along to a shop with your fave tunes on a CD and take a listen to a few to get an idea as what I like you may not etc..
Also remember you can get adaptors from 5 x 7 to 5.25" round speakers which can increase your choice

Do people run with the "sh*t in, sh*t out" theory with ICE in the same way you would with home audio? Suggesting that you go for the start of the chain first, the idea being that fantastic speakers with an old walkman will sound far worse than a fantastic cd player with mediocre speakers.

Ive got a JBL GTI mono amp atm, can't beat it. Wee bit pricey btu if you can find one cheap then deffo go for it. Also got 2 Pioneer subs, running i think 1000wrms each. All depends what you want though, if you want extremely crisp sound then you can sacrifice sub spec, but if you want HUGE bass then go for that lol.
