Tried searching on here and Google, but couldn't find anything.

Basically just over a weeks ago the passenger door didn't unlock when pressing the key fob on a couple of occasions, but the drivers door did. If I locked the car then unlocked it again, it would work though. No problems since though.

Now today, I've noticed the passenger door isn't locking when I lock the car with the key fob, but will when I manually push the handle in then close the door.

Any ideas please?

Thank you,

Had same problem on my GT-four, the mechanism that locks it wiring came loose so it didn't lock unless I manually pushed down the lock on the door.

Take it to the garage, cause your have to get the inner door panels off to get to that cable.

Cheers Stason. I was thinking of taking the door card out and having a look to see if I can do it myself before taking it to a garage!

Any other ideas anyone?

It could be a number of things, in my old BMW it was a sticking actuator motor. It could be this or the lock mechanism needs greasing, it may be a loose cable (the Fez uses a bike brake type cable that runs all the way from the handle back into the lock mechanism at the rear of the door near the outer handle), it may even be an electrical problem.. Getting the panel off is a fair job in itself, you need to get the outer panel off then the inner panel (lots of bolts) you also need to un-couple the window from the runners and take it out as they form part of this inner panel before you can free it.

You could try yourself if money's an issue, but if you havent done it before or have the means your best take it to a garage or a mechnic who has experience.

I had passenger door issues with the handle only locking halfway
It went away by itself

there is also a setting in the keyfob that allows you to lock/unlock all doors or just the drivers door. IIRC you just have to hold the lock and unlock buttons for a few seconds to toggle between the two. I would give it a try...

Probably something sticking or a loose cable

Thanks for the suggestion SparK, I just tried that, and checked on the dash menu which is set to unlock all doors, so it looks like there is something wrong with the passenger door lock.

kevSTa, thank you for your reply, very helpful! Sounds like taking the door card out is a lot harder than it was on my old Mk 3 Fiesta, especially as there is an outer and inner panel and you have to take the window out.

When I bought the car in January I got a deal on a "Ford Protect Gold Warranty" so it should be covered by that.

Cheers,

why would you take the window out?

take the inner door off then there is a bit of sound deadening which can be removed, is stuck on but can be put back with gaffa tape

Typical!!! Rang my Ford dealer this afternoon and booked it in for next week, just took it for a quick thrash down the road and back, and it works again! Unlocked and locked it a few times and it worked everytime!

A lose electrical wire, or something I'm guessing?

The doors connect to the car electrics via a multiplug, which is detachable. I'm 99% sure your issue is due to that plug being loose. It's located between the door and the car body, half way down. The plug 'twists' off, check to make sure it's nice and tight.

Since I posted the above its been fine!

Just checked the door multi plug and it seemed secure, but took it out, gave it a blow and re attached it. It did just twist a notch tighter I think, which is bound to help. Many thanks for that st07.

Will ring the Ford dealer first thing and cancel the service appointment booked in for tomorrow morning!
