Hi all
I've noticed a fluid leak on the drive for the last 3 days it looks like coolant. Its coming from the left side (looking from the front of the vehicle) and when I remove the belt shield and looking from underneath it looks as though its coming from the water pump.
I take it its a common fault ,what would I be looking for £ to replace.
Its a face lift with 24k and of course out of warranty.

Water pump failure is becoming common. We replaced a friend of mines water pump, took about two hours and a genuine pump cost her about £70 I believe, though you can get 3rd party ones on eBay for around £20.

I made a guide too, shall try and get it ported over to this site shortly.

I phoned a couple of main dealers up this afternoon and was quoted about £300 .One said that the coolant may have contaminated the timing belt until I told him it had a timing chain and the belt drove the alternator and water pump etc .
Then he said he didn't know much about them .
I will get a couple of quotes from independent garages tomorrow.
Thanks for all the replies.

£80 at most for the pump, and if you have a set of spanners and axle stands you could do the job yourself in a couple of hours mate. Sod £300, that's taking the piss. My friends belt was wet but we dried that off after removing it, lol at it being contaminated, it's pretty much just water ffs, not oil or something.

He assumed it had a timing belt, but when I pointed out it had a timing chain and the belt was basically a glorified fan belt and they where not connected if you see what I mean , he suddenly back tracked and said he didn't know much about them. This is from a main dealer by the way.
Anyway the leak has virtually stopped and the fluids all seem ok .I'll keep an eye on it and will have A go myself if need be , but like you say £220 for 2 hours work , I must be in the wrong job .
Ive just noticed your post in the how to section , thanks for posting this it may come in very handy
