This decision makes the one I made last year about proposing to my now fiancee look like a mere whim.

I heard just over a year ago that a higher powere diesel Fiesta was in the pipeline. I know nothing more than that but would expect it to have the 100ps engine in it. I owned the current TDCi which has the 1.4 75ps engine and thought for what it was it went really well (except I found is sadly lacking in 2nd and 3rd gear accelleration). It did return however an easy 40mpg even with me giving it full beans almost everwhere.

Now, if a 100ps, or even 115ps diesel Fiesta was produced, I would have a serious dilemma over whether to get that or the ST.

Old man syndrome...

I remember 6 or 7 years ago, you berated your old man for buying a diesel! 'I'll never buy a diesel!' I seem to recall...

Indeed Craig, several years ago.

Anyone who's driven the Ghia X TDCi 130ps for any period will know that they are a world apart from what they used to be. The TDi Land Rover my dad bought was a seriously slow and uneconomic pile of rubbish. I drove my previous managers mondeo and stuck to the bootlid of an imprezza all the way up to quite a silly speed, and yet it still returned over 38mpg.

I jolly well hope so!
I'd have the ST and the Mrs can have the TD so I can drive it if I need/want to.

A colleage at work has a Discovery Auto Diesel. The responsiveness (or rather, lack of) is just hillarious!!

We have the two extremes of throttle response - the Discovery Diesel and the ST220!! :P
