Also if your ever in doubt and need to cool the engine, put your windows down and put the heating on max temp and max blow (4). It may be Uncomfy but takes the edge of the engine temp and saves it from cooking itself.

I was thinking about doing this but I wasn't 100% so I just went windows down and turned the engine off in traffic when I could, like I said I was just lucky people had left a massive gap.

Got a fair few beeps and obscene gestures driving down the hard shoulder for a little aswell!

Just checked the pipe from the coolant to the radiator and seemed the same temp across? Not too sure about spurting hot water from the coolant tank so I'll get the car to the garage on the weekend for a once over.

Had it checked over at Evans Halshaw today, apparently the engine fans weren't plugged in! No idea how that's happened. Other bad news includes rear disks are all but gone, front tyres are fubar (after less than 6000 miles which I find strange) and a rear wheel bearing is on it's way out.

Is that what you noticed or what Ford told you? I went in to get a new key and came out with over £1000 worth of work they said I'd need doing including £45 to clear condensation from my side indicator They also said my brakes + pads need changing and 15 months on they're still going strong...

That's what Ford have said, bit narked that they said the inspection was free and then it was up to me whether I paid for the work to be carried out or not, now I've got a £45 charge that was never mentioned. I'll be changing the disks + pads myself and I can get some Toyo T1Rs at cost to go on the front so that's no problem. Just not sure about the wheel bearing!

True, I try and avoid them, normally goes to my aunties garage but she couldn't get it in for a while and I thought with the engine temps going sky high it needed checking ASAP. Today was the earliest I could get it in Fords.

At least you got the fans sorted. Was a strange one them not being pluged in. No idea why they would have to be un-pluged in the first place

Sounds like fraud are just trying to take you for a ride. Have you checked the tyres yourself? 6k miles isn't very long unless you have been thrashing it everywhere. Saying that I have killed a set in less than 6k before

He pretty much told me I unplugged it and forced it back in the wrong place when I fitted my induction kit. It's not the first time I've fitted one and most certainly didn't unplug anything that wasn't to do with the air system.

I do like a spirited drive now and them and they're Pirelli P Zeros which I've heard have quite a short life span.

Just annoyed me they carried out the work without asking when I was told that it was a no obligation check and then I'd be able to decide if I wanted them to do the work. Just spoke to the guy now who seemed quite jittery about it and eventually decided that if I was told I wouldn't be charged then I won't be charged. £45 to plug in a cable is extortionate considering the "health" check was free.

I get a 40% discount at a local garage so I'll pick up some pads and do it myself. EBC are the standard ones aren't they?

They should never do work without contacting you first.

P zeros aren't that bad for wear. Just rubbish grip.

ebc ones are aftermarket discs and pads.
The fins codes for the standard are
rear disc 1514237
rear pad 1425407

That's the impression I was under, didn't have to pay for any of it. They changed their story from I'd unplugged the fans, the fans were plugged in wrong and when my dad picked it up they told him the wires had corroded and the fan had to have new wires put in. This'll be the last time my car goes there!

Cheers for that mate, they show up as Focus but I'm assuming they're the same? I reckon I can get the EBC ones for about £20 a pair so might just be worth getting them?

It's the bearing I'm worried about! Ford want £180 just for the bearing never mind labour.
