Does anyone know how to replace them and are they easy to do yourself? Mine is knackered rattles everytime I shut the car doors and boot and at very low revs it sounds horrible!

Easy Dan.

Spray the rubber with WD40 and slide them off. Then, slide the new ones on.

I've actually been thinking about this today and I've come to the conclusion that it could be either one of my exhaust hangers or it could be the heatshield but I'm still not sure. Gonna get dad to slam the doors and boot while a lay under the car see if I can tell what's making the noise. Can you get replacement heatshields? (all these questions make me feel like a noob again! )

Yeah you can get replacement heatshields coz i need a new one as its split but they have to drop the exhaust to change it according to the ford mechanic. Mine rattles a bit when you close the boot and my exhaust bangs a bit co its much larger than the old system

exhaust needs dropping off all the hangers but the movement in the flexi and dropping it to the rear axle should be enough... if not its two bolts on the front lol

Any ideas on how much replacement heatshield might cost?

I've heard mixed things about the powerflex ones some people say it breaks your exhaust mounting points off because they're too stiff and others say they're fine

You can get poly bush exhaust hangers that have virtually no flex in them at all.

A replacement heatshield shouldn't cost more than £20 and is dead easy to change.

Drop exhaust off all hangers and rest on rear axle. Remove nuts that hold shield on and pull clear.

Fitting opposite to removal.

Only the hangers closer to the mani the two holding the back box up will be fine to change over
