Replacing one tyre

Hi all,
I have a slow puncture in the sidewall of my offside front tyre. It was done by hitting a drain when I overtook a coach near Alton Towers. Also the tyre is popping slightly out of the alloy wheel. There is still plenty of tred on it but I do not feel completely comfortable keeping it. My MOT is not due until Feb/Mar.
I have (stock?) Pirelli P Zero Nero 205/40/17 Tyres all round. I'm looking to replace just the one tyre and was wondering what your advice would be regarding brand. Is it worth sticking with the same one? Does it matter if I get one part worn?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Smiiithy

It doesn't matter what tyres you have on whatever axle or side of a car. Aslong as the tyre size is the same (205/40/17) you can do what you like. You could have an Avon, Toyo, Pirelli and Michelin if you so wanted lol.
As for part worn, this will be fine. Alot of people only change one tyre at a time, and although it is suggested you change the two, I wouldn't worry for now. Get a part worn, wait until the Pirelli needs changing and then get a pair.
And whatever you do, get the tyre changed NOW. If it's bulging under pressure, it could blow out any time. The tyre wall has been damaged inside and you only have small amount of rubber holding that part of the tyre toegether.

on the fiestas its a good idea to make sure you use similarly rated tyres (i.e. wet weather and dry weather how good they are) the reason i say this is because personnally i belive this helped contribute to me writing off my first fiesta, Previous owner fitted cheap tyres all round, so when the front ones had warn out i fitted toyos on the front and left cheap ones on the rear... one wet evening the rear end came out and i ended up T'ing into a wall....

Still need to get this done. Not sure what brands are worth getting part worn and not. Will it make a massive difference?

Depends on how worn the other tyre is.
If there's alot of tread left, get a decent make part worn. If it will last another 1000 miles, get a cheap one. Just don't forget it is a budget and won't stick to the road as well as premium branded tyres.

Over here it's only illegal if they tyre size is different, othwerwise its fine.
