If only that is true, and that it was not as quick as the Focus RS (as some engineers had told me) then I would be nothing short of gutted.

I expect a lot more performance out of the Fiesta as it is 10% lighter than the ST170 and only a smidge down on torque (yes it's got less peak power, but that is purely a peak). Either they are playing down it's ability (???) or else it needs to go on a track with more twists in it!

That's right, really they are promoting the ride and handling of the car over its straight-line performance. Me Personally straight line performane is nice, but i would prefer a car that goes round corners better! Thats why i'll be getting an ST!

I too was dissapointed to hear this, but maybe they are saving that quote for the Fiesta RS - if she ever exists

well im now hoping that they are doing the same as they did with the Zs to push down the insurance group because lets face it a 2 ltr fiesta should whoop a st170 as ive heard that the Zs isnt that far behind it im just looking forward to driving it as im hopefully getting it on 18th december, all being well that is.

The ST170's problem was the dullness of it all. A 1.8 Focus is more entertaining - clearly a major problem there. I still maintain that a car can be entertaining without huge power.

I would expect the ST to lap much quicker than the ST170. I expect they have got muddled up again. We all saw the mistakes in their other recent press release!
