...getting rid of the crappy white marker that car parts places use to write on the parts

i've tried everything in the house I have and can't get the marker off

white spirit or some sort of alcohol based cleaner that won't damage the paint like petrol? remember to use a microfibre cloth and not kitchen roll like I did underneath my number plates
