Recently sent the car in for a re-map, they could pull the map out and make the changes but when they tried to put it back in they kept getting checksum fault. They said I need to take it back to Ford for them to check what software it is running on.

Has anyone else come across this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Checksum faults are usually memory faults where the computer will try and find a specific value, obviously the value is missing or currupted thus result in a check sum fault.

Most ECU's on cars will put the car into a safe mode, or not work at all, you won't be able to go certain speeds or restricted rpm and so on. this is a tempory fix the ecu will do to keep everyone safe.

where did you get it re-mapped mate?

Who has done your re-map?

what exactly is your error code?

was the car perfectly normal before going in?

Judging by what you said they have have installed the re-map and now F**ked it up by not doing it properly.

You need to get it taken in at the ford garage and get them to re-program it, this should reset and flash the ecu back to factory default.

The other problem the ECU may of packed up you may need to get this sent through ford if your under warranty and have it replaced if neither of the stuff above works.

I took it to a place just around the corner from me called JP Autotechnics. The car was running fine before it was taken in and is still running fine now. He didn't say that there was an error code, just that he reckons someone else has had a go at re-mapping it before and not done a very good job.

ahh just take it into ford mate to be on the safe side to get it flashed.

this should just reboot the device and clean it up it's likely that you were running it on a map that hadn't been taken off.

doesn't have any sluggish or dodgy moments driving it?

No it drives perfect, even when he had it on the dyno he said everything was spot on with it.

Any idea how much it will cost?

Not sure mate considering ford, My GT-Four had it done once only because my ECU got buggy after it's 5th map as some mapping left bits and odds of currupt data which used up the ECU memory.

Worth giving them a bell to find out, you might be able to get it done at a local garage if they have to correct tools.
