Hi,

My car is driving me nuts. In the morning (when car is cold) it kicks in and the struggles for power (sometimes back fires). Once you give it some its fine.

Rarely, you have to hold the key longer for it to kick in. It displays the fault of misfire on cylinder four. When fault is cleared, it takes about two weeks to come back. My power steering has a slight leak, surly this would not cause this problem?

Can anyone help me? I have changed plugs, Leads, Coil Pack, front oxygen sensor. All has done nothing to improve it what so ever.

thanks

Get it in the garage mate your not going to find out here because it could be anything i can think of 5 different things but your end up spending loads of money and might not even correct it get ford to have a look at it.

Least with Ford they will do the process of elimination with the correct tools and charge you for the correct part for replacement.

Agree with Stason mate.

I'm a mechanic, but with problems such as yourselfs, it's impossible to diagnose over the net because it could be a number of things, and if you did all these things, it may not fix it and cost you alot of money.

I would suggest taking it to Ford, and let them diagnose the problem mate.

Last time I took it to Ford. They said it oxygen sensor. Front one. Took it back, they said spark plugs weren't in properly. As it was summer, seemed to do trick. Then it went cold, same thing happened. So took it back and told the oxygen sensor is flagging up again, the same one that was replaced before. After spending 100's on their so called expert labour.I decide to get a fault reader. Sure enough , it was flagging but it was the back one! This was same code they told me first time. So they wasted more of my money. Replaced plugs n leads after reading on here.

So , don't really want to go back to them. Might drive to dealership , if i need to.

Hmmmm.

Maybe crank/cam sensor if issue is when cold?
