I just managed to get to work and when I put the clutch in it wouldn't take it out of gear. Parked up and had a look, when the clutch is pressed hydraulic oil can be seen coming out under the car. Easy fix or not?

As Dan said above Dunc.

Your slave cylinder seal has gone. Sadly, alot of cars nowadays put the cylinder inside the box, meaning that when one does fail, the gearbox has to be removed to be able to change it.

To make the news even worse, today is the last day for most garages to be open......Around here anyway.

Tez, ford have quoted £560 to fix and local gearbox/clutch places aren't much cheaper. Does this sound a reasonable price?

Try a local independant, just had the clutch done on vickys fiesta tdci and it cost me £250 cash, no vat on the labour at a mates garage, this did not include the dual mass flywheel as it was ok.
What are they doing are they changing the full clutch and slave cylinder.

Dunc, that's very steep. I know your in a different area to here, but an average clutch job here costs £200. I would find a local independant as Tez said, and see if you can it done on a cash basis.

Duncan it does seem a bit steep. Have you given Performance 3000 a try. They are in yeovil on the Lynx Trading Estate.

Always used them when i lived down there and they were very good on price
