The weekend the snow hit the north of england i had planned to pick up my new gearbox!!
pic from the advert

the box was advertised for spares as there were problems with the gears but unsure as he had never bothered to strip!! Also included in the sale were a full set of nearly new internals for the box, removed from a motorsport application which had a sequential input

finished work sat at 12pm to find the car frozen....it was a sight, thank ford for heated screen!!

undeterred i shot home to grab the misses and bags.....lol and filled up ready for the 190mile round trip across the pennines......as the snow started falling!!

.......... i wasnt even 10miles up the M62 and i was down to 30mph drifting left to right!! ....Due to rear suspension mods my back axle feels like iceskates anything above 40mph when on slushy roads!!! Brilliant in the dry but scary on ice or snow!! I must have looked a real sight as most cars that passed me gave a wide berth (almost 2 lanes if possible )
The worst were the trucks... they gave me no room!! ive never seen my girlfriend grab the SH*#TBAG handle at 30mph!!

the 1hr 40min journey ended up nearly 4 hrs and i was knackered!! Pic of the snow and pub....

finally stopped snowing around10pm

the roads were a little better the next day and collected the gearbox and made it home safe

monday back in work checked my tyres, good job i did.... 6 months old!!!

i eat rear tyres quicker than BMW's LOL

so 2 new tyres!! £120 but yoko's this time

gearbox is being rebuilt by a friend in fords!!

and my new kevlar clutch...

hope u all like and more updates soon, i just have sooo much to do and so little time....lol

Wow that picture even looked cold haha!
You'll love the way the car will handle the power now!
Great engines in these cars just the gear box is pants and was only made to handle standard. Cost effective I guess

wow that car was frozen!

like Andy said cheap and cheerful our gearboxes are they literally are designed to give smaller ratios to make the st feel faster and do not hold a lot of strength but again designed to do their job not much more.

In all honesty I went down this route as I have never been happy with the clutch , mayb the previous driver had a wooden left leg and struggled releasing the clutch fully ...... But it has always seemed a little too high and of late I struggle getting it into first, all signs of a worn clutch,
Ps not to disrespect but the last owner was a woman....."gulp"

Thought if I'm doing the clutch and looking to get more power best to upgrade what I got.....
Looked at mtx75 but couldnt warrant the high costs of setup as I barely have 160bhp yet!! Lol
This box was relatively cheap and with new upgraded internals should be good for another 50,000 miles if I treat it right!!
Plus I could also sell my old box (£300) or even keep it and save up for a full sequential setup!!! LOL

Thank you all for your support and yes I cannot wait to get the box back, just need the weather to pick up then as I will be stopping it on my drive and cycling to work!!
And yes it was cold..... The rain had froze as it landed on the car, real black ice!!!!

Specsavers do 2pairs you know.....lol joke , the edges of the tyres are quite good but it is the centre that has scrubbed from all the 'crabbing' up the motorway,

I could have kept them on a bit but I like to be safe and whilst I had spare cash thought it be a job best done
