i tend to find it when i'm changing gear, so when i take my foot off the accelerator and put the clutch in the revs keep going up a bit then die down, havent noticed it happen if i'm slowing and then i press the clutch, i'll have to have a proper look next time i'm in the car.

Isnt this the common problem that can be sorted out by an ECU upgrade?

Not that this helps but I've had this happen a few times in my GTI. An AA guy that drinks at my local told me that sometimes a cyclinder can sort of 'mis-fire' and for a few seconds your engine works harder than usual......but then the guy drinks ALOT so he might be talking crap.

Like Chris, I do find that it does tend to noticeably rev upwards a bit when changing up gears. But certainly in mine, it doen't happen the other way on.

I thought this was a common ECU bug but mine stopped doing it after 4000 miles

What without any work being done on it? Strange that.

Might just be the ECU getting used to allowing more/less fuel
