Just come back from doing mums shopping turned around at the end of my road and there was a pretty loud bang from under the car. Pulled up outside my house and looked under at the passenger side front wheel and my drop link has thrown it self out the nut is missing and it looks like it could be bent. Basically I need to know what thread the drop link is so I can get a new nut and if it's bent how hard would it be to replace it? Can anybody shed light on this? Not sure what the drop links do but don't think it's safe to drive with a buggered one so cars out of action till I can sort it

No need to worry got it sorted. Turns out both of my droplinks had worked theirselves loose and that's why one of them detached itself. New bolts put on both droplinks. Although the drop link is bent its only minor and should be ok but getting it replaced next week as mot comes up in may and it will fail on that. Anyway panic over

I think it might be something to do with the anti roll bar not too sure really. But its held on by a nut and a bolt that goes through the front damper which also holds the brake lines. I was so close to damaging those to but somehow they were fine. Think I was pretty lucky considering and the best part is a mutual friend of a friend sorted it for free so pretty happy about that.

the drop links connect the anti roll bar to the suspension this restricts the amount of roll as the car corners therefore preventing the car from rolling too far as it corners.

Both replaced today for £30 all in took about 35 mins to do both. Not sure how I never did any damage to the brake lines someone must have been looking out for me? Car drives better than ever now.

It's an 07 plate. Actually figured out why it came loose. When my coilovers were fitted we struggled to put the drop links back on because we didn't have the right tools you need to have an allen key in the top of the thread whilst tightening it up with a spanner preferably ratchet if you have one. Ever since then the car didn't feel quite right to drive always making extremely strange noises going over bumps or speed bumps. Think over time it's just worked itself loose but the nut completely ripped itself off the thread buggering it up anyway. When we looked at it yesterday it had bent in a curve shape and also another direction! New drop links are better designed so that there's no need to stop the thread from spinning round whilst tightening it oh and they're black and shiny for now now all fixed and tightened up properly it's such a pleasure to drive no knocking or banging at all. Just gotta get my glove box rattle sorted and stop my exhaust hitting the diffuser and that's all my noises gone! Anyone know how to straighten up an exhaust?
