Didn't think it was in-depth enough to warrant technical however does anyone know how you get the side bits off, the ones that are attached to door presumably to stop people opening them on your car.

The previous owners obviously had it off to respray it and has put it back slightly lower than the back, this my OCD cannot deal with.

I don't know how to get them off but I was once told by the ford body shop that when they're removed they don't go back on, in fact when I had some work done on the rear quater they replaced that part, luckily for me they forgot to include it in the quote so didn't end up charging me for it!

not sure, but seen some pics of some that were stolen and ripped off a car, there were several rather large holes in the body door panel, so might be some sort of bolts via the door card inside, think also they have some sticky on them too.
Can not see they can go back on and not be at the correct height.

The holes are the pegs to align the bump strips, they are only peg guides for alignment but they can snap off quite easy hence when refitting can be put back on wonky....

Marvellous news.

Well basically the one on the drivers door doesn't line up with the one on the rear quarter, looks like someone's pushed it down almost?

they are just held on by tape but there are holes and a groove in the door.
There are 'prongs' that go into the holes, but that just to keep it more or less in the right place

just a warning, lots of force needed to get them off, my old ones were deformed after pulling them off.

see my thread...

Fantasic =(

What are the chances of it damaging the paint when I pull it off? And does anyone know the best place to buy a new replacement piece? I just can't live with it =(

maybe here - http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_st150_primed_side_body_moulding_set_f_KITFIETRIM4_c_115.htm

But that's the entire set by looks of things, would also need painting so probabily not the best way to go.

Ebay if you can find someone breaking one?

It can damage the paint but if you are slow and use lots of heat it should be ok

Whats up with it?
