I use this on my plastics, you only need a small amount and it goes a long way, couple of blobs and will do whole bumper, darkens it up, beads for fun and lasts, great value product.
wouldnt worry about that rubber strip they are all like that!

Yeah see the one on the right it overlaps onto the left you should be able to put a little bit of glue and stick it together should reinforce it a little as well they interlink and then stick onto the bumper it's self.
im going to do mine soon, mine is a lot worse state then yours sure i haven't hit any thing but evident something must of done that.
