Hi All,
I have noticed when starting my car after work that it starts fine then a few seconds later it almost dies. I rev it up a little then it's fine. Has anyone else had this problem.

Try cleaning your throttle body

that or it could be a whole string of things worth getting it hooked up to a diagnostic kit to see if there are any errors.

could be the following in my opinion are the most likely culprits

throttle body needs a clean
ignition coil pack faulty
spark plugs need changing
sensor(s) packed in

A couple days ago I cleaned my throttle body and air filter, that coupled with new spark plugs has cured a lot of the classic lumpy ST idle for me.

From what I've read it takes a few days for the ECU to adjust perfectly after.

If it is rough for a couple of mins then potentially ICV.

Is yours a prefacelift or a facelift?

I had the exact same thing after being on my 3rd tank of 95 octane fuel, switched back to 98 and problem solved
Not sure if mine just runs crap on 95 or if it was some bad fuel

Duff was that with the Charger or without it?

This will sound captain obvious but i would of thought with the charger it will be mapped to high octane fuel?

I ran the Fiesta on high octane before supercharging... Better fuel better running of cars for me! That's what I noticed day to day...
Plus clean your throttle body, black sludge is not good!

Kaxe, when you clean the throttle body did you clean the intake it attaches to? I removed my TB and cleaned it up and everything runs better now but I noticed the black stuff coating the inside of the pipe it connects to as well, obviously didn't want to be spraying anything down there so I left it as it was. Seems like the K&N lets through quite a bit of s**t (sone is expected).

That was without mate, was running a pretty basic map at the time. I had used a tank of 95 before on occasion and it ran fine, but never 3 in a row

Just took it off like you did mate and cleaned all the black off of it. I didn't touch the intake bit no...
I did have the cossie inlet on at the time so I had to clean out the little puddle of oil I had in the bottom of it under the trumpets!

Hi All,
Thanks for the responses, I'll look into cleaning the throttle body(should have thought of that myself) and get some plugs. Seems quite soon for some plugs, car only has 17000 miles on it.

Ditto the others re cleaning TB, I was having real bad starting issues, from day one of ownership last Nov, always needed throttle to get going, ticking over she jumped all over the place, I cleaned and OMG the amount of black gunk I used a whole can of TB cleaner, wiped dry with paper towel and couldnt believe the difference, I did mine about 5 weeks ago now and she has started every time first time no throttle needed, no lumpy tick over, dont feel like she gonna stall when reversing etc.
