Started my ST up this morning and started with a bit of noise and now the display in the car is flashing with EAC Fail !! I've read the book and it says I can't drive the vehicle above 18 MPH and the revs won't go above 2000

Can anyone assist me please ... Rang Ford and they are scratching their arses...

EAC failure is to do with the electronic throttle. it's common to get EAC fail after stalling the car and starting it quickly (From Cold) without returning the key to position 0, and the light is usually accompanied with erratic rev jumping. It's rectified by switching the car off again and restarting after a short while.
Get it to the dealer and get a ECU upgrade my friend as there is a underlying fault.

If theres nothing wrong with the car then disconnect the battery, wait half an hour and reattach. Trying to get Ford to do an ECU update takes a long time.

I Wouldn't bother disconnecting the battery as there may well be a fault and doesn't just need resetting... it could be a sensor fault so best take it in to a Ford dealership.

Instead off dicking around with disconnecting the battery then putting the radio code in.

I don't get any lights come up, but I get a similar fault after stalling the car the as well. Only stalled it twice in the 5 months but both times its taken three times to start with a bit of throttle to get it going.

The ST does that if you stall it or half crank it seems to need a blip of throttle to start.

But The fault with the EAC light is worth taking to the dealership. It should store a fault code for it.

I had EAC FAIL showing last week.I called the AA out and they said it could be a sensor reading the emitions. He pluged somrthing in at the footwell and bluetoothed it from his van to get rid of the reading, but said if it comes on again get it to ford. Oh, he also said if EAC FAIL starts flashing..stop the car.
Next day all hell let loose. On the way to work EAC FAIL came up quickly followed by abs light then the battery light then EAC FAIL started flashing in that order.Got the AA again who took it to the garage.
It turned out to be a faulty alternater, they replaced it, all ok now..touch wood.

Cheers everyone, I turned it off and started it after a while and she is now working as normal - I will still get it booked in for an upgrade as recommended.

Thanks again for all your responses.

Glad its working OK now for you. Hopefully it won't happen to you again, but if it does definitely worth taking it in to your dealer, it could be a problem or it could simply be an electrics problem(like it was when that happenned on mine shortly after I bought it).

You think that they would have fixed many of these problems with the facelift. And why don't they put the latest ECU update on the car before they sell it?

Yep wouldn't have thought it would cost them any money to do that in the factory since surely its just a case of installing the latest version of the software for the ECU.
