Know engine washing has been a topic before but didn't find it when I searched. I just wandered if there is any problem with washing the engine when I have removed my original airfilter and the plug leads are then exposed. I would think that it would be sealed and no problem at all, but just wanted to ask to be completly sure.

Just put a carrier bag securely around any exposed electricals/filters and don't use silly amounts of water pressure.

to be honest, as long as you don't force it into the coilpack or any sensors it should all be fine

i'd be temped to bring the engine up to tempurature first, once done drop the bonnet so the heat will evaporate any water left in.

I did mine last weekend mate all I did was cover the battery and the air filter if you have an open KnN I don't I have mountune cias and as said don't use loads of water just let the engine degreaser do the work after a quick sprinkle

Agitation is the key!
As has already been said, cover up things like the air filter and any open connections and what not then spray the engine bay with a low pressure attachment. After that spray some degreaser (or APC) all over and really work it into every nook and crannie. It's the agitation that gets all the crap off. Then just rinse it again, let it dry and dress the plastics.
