totally diffrent car tbh, alot faster and alot more quality. It is alot bigger aswell to drive but it feels much more of a car. I only drove it for a few days so didnt know about cornering and such but alot more quality imo

In my opinion it's a lot more dignified (if that word can be used to describe an !) and feels like it's been built to a higher standard with more thought gone into it.

The facelift ones (08 onwards) certainly have a better interior, although I myself prefer the second wave of the pre-facelifts (07/57 reg).

and yeah guessed it would be more but only really using my fiesta now as a weekend toy - have a badass M reg micra 1l for work

Dans fiesta beats a focus to 80 I believe.

Power toe weight ratios etc.

I'd rather have a fiesta - easier to park lol

Review of my focus
http://www.fordfiestast.co.uk/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=154285&an=0&page=114#154285

The fiesta is better on the twisties. The focus is still good but you can feel the extra weight. It's more of a gt type car. Great for long distance driving as it's so comfortable but if your in the mood it's still great fun on a twisty road.

For me the focus is the perfect car. Quick, refined, big enough (11&14yr kids) and a nice place to sit. Just wish it didn't have a drink problem. The fiesta is a bit more rough around the edges in terms of comfort and build quality but i'd still hapliy go back to the fiesta if i couldn't afford the focus.

my type of car will always be small fast N/A hatchback

the focus is a lot bigger and smoother drive, better on a fuel on a long motorway run than the fiesta.

power to weight it is a bit sluggish, but is very easy to get a lot of power, bigger intercooler, panel filter and a map will see 270bhp and then a full exhaust your on 300bhp no problem

cornering can be made a lot better with bilsteins or eibachs but it will never feel gokart like the fiesta

as far as a fun weekend car goes, i would choose the fiesta over a focus, but as a commuter and motorway traveller i would choose a focus

Good thread this.

Dan, you say that the Focus is actually better on longer motorway drives (on fuel) and I can actually believe that as my girlfriend's dad managed to do 32mpg @ 80mph for 2 hours with the air con on in a Volvo (c?)70 (same engine as focus). Until I actually witnessed this it was the main thing putting me off getting a Focus as I have to drive 150 miles to my girlfriend's house lol. Interesting

i used to get about 33-35mpg on my old drive to work 35miles each way and then in katies focus even with a decat got 35-38mpg

if i was to buy a focus i would buy an RS, its suspension is a much better setup, better brakes but then i would want an ST engine in it with MR290

I test drove a focus once, it felt like it was in a different league. Only reason I didn't swap is because it was older and had a higher mileage than my fiesta has.

I love my other half's Focus ST, but feel a bit of a nit driving it. I'm only 5'2, so I'm a bit swamped by the sheer size of the thing! As a family car though, you can't fault the amount of room that's available.

The Focus is far more comfortable than the Fiesta too, but for its size, it's still very agile. Performance wise, standard they're ok, but stick bluefin or dreamscience on it, and upgrade the intercooler to an Airtec and you'll notice a significant difference as it's so much easier to tune a turbo'd engine than an NA. The mpg can be reasonable if you can resist the temptation to make the turbo scream. I think Dal's average is about 31mpg

I had a pretty decent battle with one on the ring which was lowered, i still passed him but it took me until the second carousel, it handled a lot better than i expected and i could no way keep up on the straights, he slowed me down quite abit on the technical part thought i dont think he liked the fact i was more nimble and could carry more speed, i put it down to his lack of confidence!

had my pants pulled down by one later that day though even on the corners - crazy germans (didn't look standard, huge intercooler, part of the rs lot that were there)!

imo i'd have one just for the grunt you will have after a remap

my uncle "test drove" it yesterday on some pretty cool country roads and it felt amazing- although slightly scary at times, maybe a slight bit of body roll cos Im used to how stiff the fiesta was but hes got a leon FR so was put off by the fact that its petrol but once he had had a blast he said he couldnt fault it, handles superb - even better when the turbo kicks in lol!!!

yeah it will be coming to the shows - next one im going to is ford fair i think
