my car seems to have no power whatsover, if i try to over take in 5th it just dies on its arse, but maybe thats they way i drive it

Theres your problem right there, You should go for a drive and take note of the speed you can achieve in each gear, then you'll know what gear to wack it in to overtake safely and quickly.

This column is starting to put me off buying my new ST. Its just with people saying that its not as fast as it could be and that ford could have added more BHP.
This makes out that the ST is not all its cracked up to be, or not as good as what im expecting it to be. I hope it is.

Well it is fast and it rates up there with most of the other hot hatches you can get.

The handling really sets this car apart from others as I have just found out in the last 10 minutes.

Was in the overtaking lane on the dual carrigeway, went past 3 lorrys and was nearing 75 in 3rd. I needed to take a slip road off so I quickly pulled left across 2 lanes to be in the sliproad thinking, Right, 75 mph, sharp bend coming up, oh dear. Braked hard, car was squirming under heavy braking and slight left hand bend. got down to about 45mph and went round a 90 deg left bend with ease.
Parked in the car park, got out and said what were you all worried about?

0 - 60 in 7.9 seconds
Top speed - 130-140 mph

What people mean is it could be faster for a 2.0.

But, the bottom line, if you have driven a Scooby or Civic Type R, its going to feel slower. If you have driven a 1.2 - 1.6 Fiesta or similar it does feel fast.

Just take it for a test drive and decide yourself. Reading reviews is only part of the car choosing process, until you drive it, you can't fully make a decision.

If they had made the 2.0l more powerful it wouldnt be as refined as it is. I think its a quick car and also a very refined car for its type. I dont think you will be disappointed, especially as you are going for a facelift.

I got mine from the 10th of may, and i think you should definately by one. I think you can't by something like that for that kind of money!

Ultimately you've got to decide for yourself what you think and the only way to do that is to have a test drive and see for yourself. But don't be put off by some comments.

The ST is a quick car, and whilst it could possibly have had a bit more power, thats not the point of the ST really. Ford decided to have the engine at 150bhp so that the car was great to drive whilst making the control of the car manageable for more people. Thats not to say that there's anything wrong in uograding it of course; the car can take a lot more and most people who have increased the power are happy with what they've gained.

Think about what the ST is all about: its about style, comfort and enjoyment whilst still being totally engineered for its performance. Its also got lots of top quality features such as air con, leather seats, great audio, heated front windscreen etc.

If you get one I'm sure you won't be dissappointed!!

The main thing to remember is that it's torque you want more than BHP and the Fiests ST has got tonnes of torque especially between 2 & 4,500 rpm which is what 99.9% of people use the engine at.
The Fiesta ST has so much torque it's like driving a fast Diesel only without the noise and when you want it to it'll rev to 7500rpm and scare the hell out of you.
65mph in 2nd
95mph in 3rd

The is a fun car that does whatit says on the tin imo. I love it and am having gr8 fun in it now its run when you want to nip past things on the Mway the power is there and it pulls well on the twisty back roads and as Benjin says it is refined for a car in its class.
