Ok there are some great options available on the ST and I am impressed at how affordable they all seem to be individually. The only slight problem is that you could easily choose them all and all of a sudden the Car costs over £15,000.

Which options are must haves? Has anyone gone for options that they now wish they hadn't?

I am thinking of getting EATC, Privacy Glass, Music connection port and side stripes. I was considering the internal styling pack but it seems there are problems with getting these.

I am not sure about the Voice Control system (don't have a blue tooth phone, is it worth it just for the voice control?), Power Mirrors, Auto Wipers, ESP, Sun roof.

I would say ESP is a good option to add but you have to get reflex pack aswell so its quite costly

I look at it this way. Can you live without certain options? Tinted windows may look good but are they really needed for the function of thecar. You could always get it fitted once you've bought and had the car for a while and its the same with the side stripes. Is there any need for a sunroof when you have air con as standard? I'd say no to the sunroof persoanally and save yourself some dosh. I had a sunroof in my old car and used to use it, but now I dont have one I dont miss it at all. If you can afford the ESP and reflex pack then go for it as it can never hurt to have some extra safety features on the car.

The Bluetooth and voice control is great if you can afford that, get it.

Will you not be getting a new phone with bluetooth in the near future? (or before you sell ur ) Cos if you are I would defintely get it because that's the best option i've chosen!

If you're not I find I don't really use the voice thing for much more than my phone because it just takes so much longer! But it is safer so i'm trying to use it more...

Definetly get ESP wit the reflex pack. It should be standard really, but the amount of airbags and safety it provides, you've just gotta be thankful for such technology.

Go to coast2coastcars.co.uk tick the options box and you could get a tidy discount on all the options you fancy. I think auto wipers and auto lights are just a useless expensive options for people too lazy to operate a switch or a stalk.

If you get the auto wipers then I'm almost certain you have to get the auto lights as well, and I know that some people have had potentially dangerous probs with them where they've flickered on, and people have thought they were being flashed at. So I'd take that one off your list if I was you.

I got mine from buyacar.co.uk and got a few extras for cheaper than the standard model would be from a dealer, i'd never buy a car from a showroom again. They'll always try to badger you into having the cars with the spec they can get hold of.

Cheeks how did you find buyacar.co.uk? I got a very cheap quote from them and even their finance was cheaper than Fords! I have looked at them,Broadspeed and Drivethedeal and I am torn.

I couldn't fault them. They were professional, they were friendly and helpful when i contacted them and i got a great deal too, so i'd definatley recommend them. They contacted me by e-mail updating me on when the car was likley to be ready and they do give written confirmation via snail mail too, which put me at ease a bit as i was a bit aprehensive about buying online at first.

I drove to their office in London to pick my car up but i heard they can deliver it too, but i'd rather not have someone drive my car properly before i do!

Re the autowipers. It comes with auto lights as part of that pack. the £100 RRP is for the lights and wipers together (cant have them seperate). IMO go for them, the lights are crap but the wipers are a godsend.

You are so right...its a shame they dont do the wippers with out the lights....as mine ficker so often now I leave them in Auto by day for tunnels etc and at night switch them on like normal as I just dont trust them.... my route home from work is Mway and a 6 mile bit of it has no lighting & the lights have cut out far to often..... only for a second but it makes others think you are flashing them out of a lane

The wippers on the other hand are fab and I love them.

The options I added to my car are as follows:

Bluetooth + voice control
Auto wipers and lights
MP3 connector
Climate Control
Privacy Glass
ESP/reflex Pack

I would highly recommend all of those options however if you dont have a bluetooth phone and dont intend to get one then the voice control is just a bit of a gimmick really (good one tho )
I think the folding mirrors are a complete waste of dosh as they fold in manually anyway and the sunroof seems silly as youve got aircon, and its a manual one anyway.
The stripes are purely cosmetic and are just how you want your car to appear. Easy to fit as an aftermarket option though. Although with the ESP it isnt possible to fit it aftermarket so if you want it you NEED to specify it from the start.
Dont go for the interior styling pack, it gives you a tacky silver add on over the radio (which the facelift doesnt need) and the mats can be picked up from ford for about £50.
Hope this has been of some help to you

The power fold mirrors are excellent if you've got a garage though!!
