Right I am having a dilemma about what Colour to get my ST in. I have narrowed it down to Performance Blue with side stripes or White with Side Stripes. They both have their pro's and con's but one thing I am not sure is a pro or a con is the fact that the White is not a Metallic Paint.

This would save me £335 for one thing, which is a pro, but is the fact that it isn't metallic a con? What does Metallic paint do for you? Is it more resistant to chipping? Does it just look better? I really am not sure.

Any help?

Personally I prefer White with side stripes. Metalic paint can offer slightly higher resale value if you choose to sell later on and some people think it looks nicer. I currently have a metalic black car but thats only because I couldnt get matt black. Its all down to personal preference really. Personally i'd save the money and get white.

I think you might be right. I have always gone for metallic paint on cars before but mainly because the colour I have wanted has always been metallic. The ST is the first car where the colour I think I prefer is a solid one.

Just have to get used to washing it though!

Metallic paint has been coated with another lining. If you look very closely at a metallic car you will see very fine specs. It does offer extra protection for the paint. Two cars with exactly the same colour will look better in metallic form. IMO you should go for white. I have the perf blue and it does look fab but if i was to swap it for another ST I would go for white with full stripes. It's all about personal preference. But as you say, you will also be saving some money as the solid colour is free.

I think that I am starting to lean towards white. I don't think I would go for full stripes but definitely side stripes. I just think that this Car looks so good in white with Blue stripes.

I think I do want to. The only problem is that my Fiance and dad have told me that I will look ike a Chav! They think I should go for Blue or Black. I wouldn't normally care what people say but I normally listen to them.

I think I need to try and see another few in the flesh if I can! Might have to visit another Ford garage or two!

I must admit that I'm not a fan of the over the top stripes and do think that they are a bit to much. My car looks great in black when its clean but its a b***h to keep clean. Personally I dont think white looks Chavish.

I have performance blue, so obviously i'm biased, but i think that's the best colour, although i admit i do like the white with the blue stripes, it's definatley growing on me. I've recently waxed my car and the metallic paint looks unbelievably shiney sparkling in the sun, very impressiv, but you wouldn't quie get that effect with the solid paint.

If the metallic colours are well kept, then they an be real nice. White shows up all sorts of marks a light scratches, one reason why i didnt go for white in the end.
