nic's car (corsa) has been stood on my mams drive for about 4 months and tonight we have finally got around to moving it and getting it back on the road. the battery was completely flat and it had no petrol in (maybe about 1 miles worth !) so we had to jump start it, it took a while to start up but once we got it started it stayed started but it misfires loads on idle.. when i take my foot off the accelerator the car JUST stays running and it kind of jumps and cuts out but doesn't completely cut out if you know what i mean my brother said it could be missing a cylinder ?? does anybody have any idea what it could be and if it will cost much to fix ? i'm gunna have to ring breakdown and get them to take me to a garage tomorrow.

"simple" things to check. All spark plugs and leads okay? Throttle body operating okay?
Have you drive it atall? Maybe because its been sat for a little while it needs to be warmed up properly etc.

dragged a load of crap through the fuel filter? how old is the car?

it's a 53 plate. not had chance to get it to the garage today coz of uni n work i'm taking it down 1st thing in the morning. i drove it but it cuts out n starts again really quick so the car kinda jolts forward a lot. i sat in it for about half an hour with the engine on but it made no difference

before you pay a garage to bend you over a barrel, change the plugs and leads and then if that doesn't work the coil pack, sounds like it had moisture in it from sitting for so long

i wouldn't know where to start my dad usually does it all but i'm not talking to him so i'll have to pay a garage

or maybe some condensation in the petrol. maybe it will help to fill it up full.

Red x it bud could have gunk I'm the fule lines or injectors
It dose sound like plugs tho there pis to change take u about 10 mins there's loads of how to,a on the net !!

garage told me engines nackered needs repair or replace, no compression in the 2nd cylinder ?? is it still worth changing plugs or should i take their word for it ? i wish i knew a bit more about how cars work

Personally I would take it elsewhere first but don't mention what the other garage said
