Hello all,
I am a complete noob when it comes to cars, looking to buy an ST and could use some help!
Looking into buying an ST for around £4-£5k. I've seen a couple at this price with around 55k miles and I'm going to try book a test drive fairly soon. I've heard they are pretty reliable cars and fairly cheap to run, although I'm sceptical about picking up one that's been "thrashed" around. Anything I should be looking for whilst on a test drive? Any help would be great!
(PS not sure if this is the right place to post this!)
Cheers, Calum

welcome to the site, there are not many things that go wrong with these cars, the can be a little juicy on fuel if you do put your foot down but can get 35-40mpg on a long easy drive and plenty of bolt on performance parts to add 20bhp without any mapping needed

welcome, easily get a good car with that money, look for better spec, check seat catches and all discs clear of rust after a drive, some calipers at the rear stick, ensure all gears engage without fuss, should go straight in, no noises or jamming, except reverse which may crash or not as there is no syncro on that gear. Do usual checks for fluids, nice clean oil always good to see, tyres on front wear fast too. Join up for a few quid too and have full access.
