Anyone know what the widest tyres you can put on the standard alloys without rubbing?

Also I'm wanting to lower the vehicle. I'm thinking 50mm, but don't want a bone jarring ride. Anyone have any experience with 50mm? And of course tyre rub on wider tyres.

I would try 205/45r17 84W first (cant gaurantee no rubbing), dont get extra load tyres as the sidewalls are stiffer (harsh ride). I dont think 50s would look very good and i think they would rub. I want to try 215/40r17s, that would give you an extra 4mm profile, but im not sure if they will catch on full lock.

I've already got 205/40/17 on. I was hoping more for 235ish, at least at the back.
Think you're right about 50's though.

205/45 for a bit of a higher profile or the 215/40 still a little bit taller and a bit wider. 235 you will need wider rim or the tyre will boe in the middle, bit like a bike tyre.

Btw the profile is % of the tyre width. So 205/45 is 45% of 205

Can't speak for tyres, I'm on B12's which is 35mm drop (correct me if I'm wrong) you feel every bump in the road but you go round corners like a train on rails
