Does anyone know the best thing to clean your car with to remove what looks like hairline scratches?

The best way would be a compound polish or a polish with a filler with would help mask the scratches.

You can use a compound on a cutting hand pad but this takes awhile but does work or there there option of a DA

If your quite new to the whole 'detailing' side of car ownership then you can't go wrong with Autoglym Super Resin Polish. It fills more than anything (won't remove the scratches) but it's cheap and gives very good results that last a good few weeks
