Hi all, so I'm thinking of replacing my aircon rad as its damaged and don't hold gas.

So the problem is how the feck do I do it, I've just spent 2hrs stripping the front end down, and then rebuilding it, as I reluctantly accepted defeat.

I hope someone has a very easy solution as I got to the point of nearly taking the front reenforcing brace off then decided there must be an easier way? I don't have a haynes manual of any description so was basically doing it blind.

The reason for all this is there is a good deal on an new aircon rad on ebay, and after checking the sellers car compatability it should fit but I wanted to make sure before I bought it, so tried to find the part code on mine, but could not find it.

I might just call Ford parts dept and give my car details to them to see it the one on ebay matches.

So ideas please? I've already thought of not bothering, and I still might!

Had any luck with this? You've probably sorted it now, but for future reference, in order to remove the aircon radiator, the very basic steps are:

1) Remove arch liners in order to remove the 3 screws on each side of the bumper and remove front bumper (unplug any wires such as fog lights).

2) Drain the coolant from the coolant radiator and unplug the two plugs going to the fan. Remove hoses from the coolant radiator.

3) Remove slam panel with reinforcer attached still, to do this you remove 4 bolts on each side of the reinforcer and 2 bolts on each side of the slam panel at the top in the engine bay.

4) The whole lot should then swing forwards carefully. Note that the air con pipes will still be connected to the condensor (what you are calling the air conditioning radiator) so be careful not to snap these as they are made of metal.

5) You can then unbolt the pipes from the condensor. They look like they wouldn't separate, but they do quite easily.

6) Remove the coolant radiator with condensor attached from the slam panel. To do this, undo the two screws from the bottom of the slam panel where there are two disc looking things with the legs of the coolant radiator in. Use a 22mm socket or spanner to unscrew the plastic discs. The radiator and condensor should then drop out together.

7) The condensor then slides apart from the condensor, should be quite obvious by this point.

8) To reassemble, do the opposite with your new part.

Note that if your air conditioning is not currently empty (no gas) then you will need to get it drained professionally before you do this work. Apparently it's illegal to vent it into the atmosphere because of the poor old ozone layer.

Cheers m8, I have not completed this task yet due to the weather, but thanks very much for setting out the steps for me.
