Just in case anyone didn't know.

If like me, you have a pre-facelift ST and only have one Remote Key, plus a master key, it is relatively cheap to get a second Remote Key, without paying almost £100.00 from Ford.

Buy a genuine Remote Key from EBay for between £25 - £30. Then take it to a key cutting place, such as Timpson’s, who will charge £5, and then best off all, all of the programming for the Radio Frequency & Immobiliser, can be done from the ignition of the car, and takes two minutes (Ford charge £40 for this).

It cost me £25 for the Key, £2 P&P, and £5 for Key cutting. So £32 for a brand new, genuine spare Remote Key. Bargain.

I got a second key from ebay too which cost a similar amount. Timpsons wanted something stupid like £30 to cut the key and said there was no warrenty or comebacks if they cut it incorrectly or your remote packs in. I got it cut at Ford for £5 which looked like a cash back hander but i'm not bothered because it works fine. The transponders on ebay are actually from scrap yards and they buy the key part from ford so technically they are not new. Was a bit off an ass to program but at least I did'nt get shafted for the full price by Ford.

Oh right, Timpsons only charged me £5.00 but did say no warranty as they did not supply the Key. My key was as new, so more than happy, and alot of them are boxed, so are defiantely new. Programming was simply only took 2 minutes.

Either way, the point we have both made is that its much cheaper than going to Ford.

Yeah some are in boxes but they seem to sell for more money. I got mine off that Diva_part bloke. The "as new" ones are from scrapped fords.
